BECOME A MENTOR
It is the intent of the National Fishing in Schools Program, working with it's installed schools, school districts, state fish & wildlife agency partners and local groups, to provide an NFSP Mentor for each school participating in NFSP. These individuals usually assist the teacher, who teaches "in school", with the outdoor/after school portion of their activities. If requested by such teacher, they may also help indoors if they have the time and interest.
Mentors are individuals from outside the school, who volunteer their time and skills to assist "their" school. They provide guidance, supervisory and instructional support to NFSP Teachers. This mentoring is most often provided in the form of taking the students fishing at a local pond, lake or stream.
Mentors are certified as "NFSP Mentors" by an NFSP Level 2 or 3 Teacher Trainer or Educator at a one-day Personal Training session. Or, the NFSP CAST* Online Training Course is a self-study, distance education course provided anytime on any device. This is the same instruction given to school teachers who become qualified to teach the NFSP curriculum in their school. Quite often, mentors are trained at the same time as the teacher(s) with whom they cooperate. *NFSP CAST: Course Applications for Students & Teachers To apply to become a Mentor, please click the button below.

SUPPORT SCHOOLS IN NEED
MAKE A DONATION TO "FISHING IN SCHOOLS"
The National Fishing in Schools Program (NFSP) is the registered trade name of The Fishing Education Foundation (FEF), a 501 (c) (3) non profit corporation. FEF was formed to encourage support from anyone interested in helping young students learn about the lifetime rewards of fishing while instilling in them a respect and understanding for our natural resources.
Any contributions made to this non-profit corporation are tax deductible. 100% of the donations go toward getting "Fishing in Schools" installed in our public and private schools.
A Lifetime Investment - a unique benefit of your contribution is that is it is a “lifetime” gift. For example, let’s say you or your company becomes the benefactor of a local school in your state/area by contributing as an "Adopt A School” sponsor. Your $3500 tax-deductible donation to the Fishing Education Foundation supports “Fishing in Schools” for the life of the program in that school.
So although it’s a one-time expenditure, your investment continues to work year-after-year as each new class of students participates in the program. Hundreds to tens of thousands of youth are benefitted as the program continues. (We require a 3 year minimum commitment from participating schools.)
