"cast a lure, catch a student" outcome objectives

Overall Curriculum Goal: Provide learners with cognitive understanding of the social and ecological benefits of angling, the motor skills, knowledge and desire to catch a fish on a spincast fishing rod.
Outcome Objective #1: Learn Safety• The learner will be able to recognize, recall and repeat the casting safety Range Rules.• The learner will be able to demonstrate the Range Rules.• The learner will be able to explain the Range Rules to peers and instructor.
Outcome Objective #2: Learn Equipment• The learner will be able to identify and recall the parts of the spincast rod and reel.• The learner will be able to describe the purpose of the parts of the spincast rod and reel.
Outcome Objective #3: Learn the Flip Cast• The learner will be able to recognize, recall and identify the 9 steps to a flip cast.• The learner will be able to demonstrate the 9 steps of a flip cast.• The learner will be able to explain the 9 steps of a flip cast.
Outcome Objective #4: Learn 3 Knots• The learner will be able to tie the Clinch Knot and Palomar Knot and by extension the Improved Clinch knot.• The learner will be able to differentiate the purpose of the 3 basic knots.• The learner will develop the motor skills to tie the 3 basic knots.
Outcome Objective #5: Learn the Basic Overhand Cast• The learner will be able to recognize, recall and state the 9 Steps To The Basic Cast.• The learner will be able to demonstrate the 9 Steps To The Basic Cast.• The learner will be able to recognize, recall, and state the 3 steps to a retrieval.• The learner will be able to demonstrate the 3 steps of a retrieval.
Outcome Objective #6: Learn How to Catch & Release Fish• The learner will be able to execute catch & release with and without a net.• The learner will further develop the motor skills needed to tie the 3 basic knots.• The learner will demonstrate accuracy and distance using the basic cast.
Outcome Objective #7: Learn How to Assemble Tackle• The learner will be able to independently assemble their tackle: rod, reel, line and lure.• The learner will be able to demonstrate the motor skills necessary to tie the 3 basic knots.• The learner will be able to recognize the importance and purpose of a fishing license and at what age they need to be to legally fish in their state of residence.
Outcome Objective #8: Learn to Identify Fish• The learner will be able to recognize, recall and repeat the kinds of food that fish eat.• The learner will be able to recognize, recall and repeat the kinds of lures that mimic the food that fish eat.• Successfully complete a quiz describing the kinds of food that fish eat and the lures that mimic the food.• The learner will be able to identify the species of fish found in their state.
Outcome Objective #9: Learn Where Fish Live• The learner will understand where fish live and why.• The learner will understand the relationship between where fish live and what they eat.• The learner will be able to recognize, recall and repeat the kinds of food that fish eat.• The learner will be able to recognize, recall and repeat the kinds of lures that mimic the food that fish eat.• The learner will be able to successfully complete a worksheet describing why fish live where they do.
Summative Authentic Assessment• The learner will be able to demonstrate their ability to properly perform the two types of casts.• The learner will be able to demonstrate their ability to properly retrieve the lure.• The learner will be able to demonstrate their ability to properly net, handle and safely release fish.• Learners will be able to demonstrate their ability to tie the Clinch, Improved Clinch and Palomar knots.
