National fishing in schools program - our curricula

We would like to thank all the like-minded folks who believe in the positive benefits of the lifetime outdoor activity of fishing. Since 2009, when our parent, the Fishing Education Foundation was formed as a nonprofit, 501 (c) (3) corporation, we have been unfailingly committed to fostering this lifetime outdoor education program in our public and private schools. As we look back over the years, we are more deeply committed than ever before to believing in the benefits of this program for the positive influence on the future of our youth. Our vision is that this is a program today that is not only the right thing to do, it is also very necessary to do. The “Cast A Lure, Catch A Student” curriculum, teaches spincasting; “Cast A Fly, Catch A Student” teaches fly fishing. both curricula werek written by a team of professional educators: in elementary, middle, high school and university environments. All curricula meets National Academic Standards of SHAPE. In 2019, the FishingEducationFoundation-NationalFishinginSchoolsProgram(NFSP), celebrated the 10th anniversary of providing in-school angling education. Tocommemorate the success,NFSPpartnered with theAmericanSportfishing Association (ASA) to bring the program’s New “Cast A Lure, Catch A Student” spincasting curriculum to schools across America. The new curriculum is companion to the “Cast A Fly, Catch A Student” fly fishing program presented here, which has been educating students in schools since 2010.
